“I think most of us have met someone where the relationship simply didn’t fit neatly into a box,” says Babette.

“Maybe it was a friend, someone you worked with, or simply someone who crossed your path at the wrong time. I found myself in a relationship like that. Someone I would fight for through the difficult seasons, just as he fought for me. It made me realize that privacy doesn’t necessarily mean you’re hiding something. Sometimes it simply means what you have is too precious to expose to everyone else’s opinions.”

“I want people to fall in love again. Not necessarily with another person, but maybe with their own story, or with the idea that love still exists. That feeling of being completely safe with someone, where for a moment the rest of the world disappears.”

Alongside the single, Babette is also releasing a music video that brings the world of Moonlight Mistress vividly to life. Filmed at Castle da Angelo, the video unfolds in a medieval setting, following Babette as she walks through the castle carrying the moon, a symbolic image of something precious being protected.

Rather than telling a traditional love story, the video is filled with symbolism and striking visual imagery that deepens the emotion of the song. Its medieval aesthetic, dramatic costumes and cinematic style give the production a distinctive identity rarely seen in the South African music industry.

The music video was produced by Zander de Beer, with a custom-designed chainmail gown created by Creative Costumes. Hendrik Odendaal captured the behind-the-scenes content, while Dinesh Swartz stars as the male lead.
